About Mrs. Stanley
Mrs. Stanley is thrilled to be returning for her third year at West Michigan Aviation Academy, where she teaches English 9, Literacy Lab, and Flight Brief. After school hours, Mrs. Stanley also co-advises the WMAA Drama Club.
Before finding WMAA, Mrs. Stanley graduated from the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University with her Bachelors of Arts degree in English, mathematics, and Spanish. While in college, she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and was honored with the Excellence-in-a-Discipline Award as selected by the College of Education faculty. She has traveled and studied abroad in Costa Rica where she strengthened her Spanish language skills and backpacked the Costa Rican countryside. She trained as a college writing consultant, and has also volunteered with the Lake Michigan Writing Project. After college, Mrs. Stanley spent two years teaching 8th grade in Grand Rapids. All of these amazing experiences have led her to WMAA, and she is so energized for another great year of learning, teaching, and helping her students grow. In her spare time, Mrs. Stanley enjoys playing beach volleyball, kayaking, snowboarding, going on hikes with her husband and Alaskan husky, Loki, and finding new and exciting books to read. |
